Product Description Eel Skin Basic Checkbook Cover. Made of genuine Eel Skin Leather. Eel skin leathers, called the Silk of the Ocean, combine a colorful thin silky texture and durability. Eel is proven to be 1.5 times stronger than cowhide of the same thickness. The checkbook cover features two compartments for currency or receipts. Suitable for standard as well as side load checks. Measures just under 6.75 inches across and 3.25 inches high. A great looking item that will last. Available in elegant Black, Brown, Tan, Red, DK. Navy or Burgundy. Stylish & Elegant September 7, 2008 Christopher P. Smoot (High Point, North Carolina) I am very pleased with the black eel skin checkbook cover that I ordered. It's very stylish and elegant looking. I haven't experienced any of the problems with the cover not closing flat as other reviewers had mentioned previously. I am so happy with my purchase, that I have ordered a second cover in tan for my 2nd checking account.
Beautiful and well-made May 2, 2008 Diana Nevins (Omaha, NE USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The eelskin leather has a wonderful appearance: richly textured and elegant. The cover is well-made and seems quite durable (after several months' use, mine still looks new). As the previous reviewer mentioned, the cover does have a tendency to gape open slightly when a full book of checks is inserted, but I've found this problem lessens with time. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the product. I do wish it came with a clear plastic tab to hold the upper page of my check register open (as my old cheapo plastic cover did), but that's a minor quibble.
Nice looking but . . . February 9, 2007 Susanna Hutcheson (Midwest U.S.A.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A beautiful checkbook cover that even has a pen holder. But the problem is when I put the checks in (regular sized) the cover will not lay flat. Perhaps it will after awhile but I've never had a checkbook cover do this before. I can't recommend this item.
